The Journey X - Behind These Eyes

''I know that most people aren't gonna watch the entire thing. People want to be entertained, but not for longer than 15 seconds max. See some cool dancing and then keep scrolling to see the next.I get it, we live in a time where things need to sell - ideally quickly. Things need to be copyable, replaceable, imitable and commercial...kind of like an assembly line...individuality doesn't really count in a world full of facades. And even the concept of individuality has been commercialized so much that it is, funnily, the exact opposite of what the word actually suggests. And then nobody wants to listen to sad stories because...oh well...we wanna have a good time don't we?On the constant search for meaning, I also aim to create meaningful things. I want my dancing to be meaningful. The Journey allows me to do that.I came up with this concept about 4 months ago and I knew that it would be powerful. On the day that we filmed I wasn't feeling well at all though, and I was frustrated as hell because doing what we do as dancers, the body doesn't always want to work the way you intend it to. Some days are better than others and that's okay, even though it can be difficult to accept. Progress in dance is not linear, but more like a roller coaster. This is the realness of this profession, and I dont mind showing it.Healing comes in stages. Sometimes we like to ignore the pain for the sake of having a good time, other times you just want to scream your lungs out. But it's always there. Deep down. And you can always feel it if you decide to turn inwards. And I like to turn inwards a lot. This clip encapsulates me as a person and all of my many facets that make me me. If you made it to the end of this clip, thank you for taking the time. It means a lot. I don't film these type of videos for others, it is purely for myself - things I need to say. But still it means everything to have someone say ''oh damn I felt that.'
